About Us

Location: Prospect United Methodist Church is located at 300 East Ash Street in Dunlap, Illinois. Situated 3 blocks East of Highway 91 through Dunlap and just off Cedar Hills Drive—only three miles from Knoxville Avenue in Peoria, we are found under the water tower next to Dunlap Elementary School.

Worship Times: Sunday mornings at 7:45 am and 9:30 am. From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend we have one worship service at 9:00 am. We also have special services throughout the year and for Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday Love Feast, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunrise Service. Children are welcome—age-appropriate worship packets for children ages 3–6 (purple cloth bags) and 7–12 (clear plastic bags) with materials relating to the day’s scripture lesson are also available. We also have Kingdom Quest during the 9:30 service (and the 9:00 am during the Summer) for children in K through the 4th Grade.

Nursery: We want you to know that your child will learn what God is like by discovering Him through our paid and volunteer nursery staff. They will be welcomed and loved by their church family.  Your child will learn that God loves them through interacting with our staff and through interactive lessons and music. This will help prepare your child for further encounters with our loving God.

Ages: Newborn to 5 year olds.

Hours: 7:45 to 11:30 on Sundays (8:45 to 10:15 during the Summer) and for special events throughout the year.

Paging System:  After you sign your child in, you will be given a pager. This allows our nursery staff to contact you if they need you, or to let you know that your child calmed down after you left.

Our nursery is located off of the fellowship hall.

Sunday School: Opportunities to further grow in your faith and enjoy fellowship—for adults, teen, and children every Sunday at 8:30 am. There is no Sunday School during the summer.  We also offer additional small group studies throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at service?

Each service begins by greeting one another, celebrating our presence through song, and thanking God through prayer. While both services follow the same liturgy, each offers its own distinct atmosphere. The 9:30 service, however, also includes a Children’s Message and special music by the choir, guest vocalists or musicians, and our own bell choir during special seasons such as Lent and Advent.

How long does service last?

Our services average one hour to one hour fifteen minutes.

What are your rules for Holy Communion?

Worshippers of all ages are welcome at the Lord’s table, whether a member of our church or no church. Christ invites all who love him and repent of their sin to participate.

Is there an alternative to worship for my children?

Although we welcome all children in our worship services, you may want to consider letting them attend one of our age-appropriate worship options for Pre-K through 4th Grade at the 9:30 service.
